Transforming People and Organizations in Africa Since 2003"The majority of the world's poor are farmers who cultivate small plots of land in areas with poor transportation infrastructure. They struggle to access seeds, fertilizer, and financial services needed for a successful harvest. To increase crop yields, farm incomes, and reduce poverty, these farmers need access to financing through the global microfinance industry. However, most microfinance institutions require farm records as collateral and membership in a stable farmer group, which poses a challenge for farmers who lack both.
