About event
Marcus du Sautoy explores the deep connection between mathematics and games throughout history and across cultures. He explains how understanding math can improve game-playing skills and how both math and games are essential to human psychology and culture. Du Sautoy views games as a form of mathematical play, with math principles underlying many games. Join him on a journey through 80 games from various cultures, including Tarot, Tic Tac Toe, Catan, and Snakes and Ladders. Marcus du Sautoy is the Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science and Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford. He has authored eight books, including his latest release, Around the World in 80 Games (Fourth Estate 2023).
