The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), in association with the European Ocean Energy Association, are delighted to announce that Ireland will be the venue for the 4th International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) to take place from Wednesday 17th to Friday 19th October 2012 at the Convention Centre Dublin. Over 750 international experts and world-leading companies in ocean energy will gather in Ireland's capital city. Global industry and academic experts in marine renewable energy will present over a hundred papers on themes important to growing this new marine industry. The conference provides an opportunity for a trade exhibition where many of the top industrial players will demonstrate the latest technologies in harnessing renewable energy from the sea. The International Conference on Ocean Energy is the global marine energy event focused on the industrial development of renewable marine energy. Held every two years, the goal of the conference and exhibition is to share recent experiences from research and demonstration efforts. It aims to accelerate development by stimulating collaboration networks between companies and research and development centres. It also specifically targets engagement of the experience of operators in related marine and power industry sectors. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) is hosting this important conference and is pleased to have the European Ocean Energy Association's (EU-OEA) as partner in organising the substantial exhibition. After successful events in maritime centres, Brest and Bilbao, SEAI and the IEA Ocean Energy Systems Implementing Agreement (OES-IA) are excited to bring this event to Dublin's portside city centre. In the decade in which ocean energy will become a significant player in electricity generation, job creation, and a bright hope for the future of our planet, the fit with Ireland's clean energy and economic goals makes this Dublin event unmissable.

Successful call and a very positive business environment, concluded the fourteenth edition of SALON LOOK INTERNATIONAL, Living Image and Integral Aesthetics, held from 14 to 16 October at Feria de Madrid. This professional event, organized by IFEMA, this call was confirmed as the leading fair in Spain and the second largest in Europe, in what relates to hairdressing. In total. 75,755 visitors attended this year to learn about innovations and developments of the 346 companies and over 1,000 participating brands. These figures, despite current market conditions, are in line with those achieved in the 2010 edition, and reinforce, once again, the relevance of the room, both nationally and internationally. It was particularly highlighted the thousand foreign visitors received by the competition, mainly from Brazil, USA, France, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland and Turkey.

Diabetes is one of the fastest growing public health problems worldwide. It affects all populations and is increasing everywhere. It causes severe complications and shortens life expectancy significantly. Treatment of diabetes is usually life-long, and therefore expensive. However, there are good news: diabetes and its complications are preventable! By preventing diabetes all the suffering related to this disease and unnecessary costs associated with it can be avoided. The World Congress on Prevention of Diabetes and Its Complications is a global forum where experts on diabetes and prevention meet and all participants can enjoy high quality scientific discussions on principles of diabetes prevention and listen to the experiences from diabetes prevention programmes that have been implemented in various countries. The World Congress of Diabetes and Its Complications has taken place regularly since 1996 when the first historic Congress took place in Copenhagen, Denmark. It then traveled to Fiuggi (Rome), Italy, Hong Kong, Chennai, India, Helsinki, Finland and Dresden, Germany. During these years increasing evidence on the potential for prevention of type 2 diabetes has been obtained, included pharmacologic treatment, and the knowledge on the prevention of complications of diabetes has been strengthened.
